Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the nation’s 11th largest school division is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Director of Food and Nutrition Services. FCPS, located in the Washington, D.C. region, serves a diverse student population of more than 189,000 students in grades pre-K through 12. FCPS students come from all over the world and speak nearly 200 languages. FCPS is the third largest employer in Virginia. The school division has approximately 27,500 full-time employees and an operating budget of $2.9 billion.
The FCPS Department of Food and Nutrition Services is a non-profit, financially self-supporting, $104.7 million, nationally recognized program. A culturally and language-diverse workforce of 1,300 dedicated food service professionals take pride in serving approximately 140,000 breakfasts, lunches and a la carte items daily.
The program objective is to improve the health of students by providing a variety of high-quality, safe, nutritious foods that students will enjoy eating, at an affordable price. Registered Dietitians/Nutritionists and Chefs plan all menus.
The FCPS Food and Nutrition Services program also supports innovative programs such as salad bars in elementary schools, rotational outdoor barbeques, breakfast alternatives at selected schools and a summer feeding program. The summer feeding program serves 200,000+ children throughout the summer months at 60 locations in Fairfax County.
A regionally competitive salary and benefits package will be offered. A master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, plus seven years of progressively more responsible experience in food service and nutrition are required.
