Chicago based i.c. stars seeks a dynamic leader to deliver leadership training to the non-profit’s trainers. Responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating leadership training modules for all aspects of i.c. stars and being directly involved in the opening of the Kansas City site. The individual will need a deep understanding of the core attributes of leadership and effective adult learner pedagogy as well experience with using both traditional and emerging leadership resources to develop future leaders. Experience with implementing and leading the design thinking process as well as evidence of creative leadership that accomplished positive outcomes for students and/or adults are strongly preferred.
i.c. stars was established to create economic opportunity for underserved communities by bridging disconnected young adults with the high growth tech sector. Participants learn by doing; they build web based applications to solve client challenges – with coding, business, and leadership instruction provided along the way. They also gain the professional network needed to jumpstart their careers. i.c. stars graduates become technologists who earn living wages (300% more than before) working as application developers or business analysts. They create nonprofits and advocate for change, putting into action i.c. stars’ definition of leadership: making opportunities for others. i.c. stars also works to change employer perceptions and practices around nontraditional talent by engaging each year hundreds of employers through industry conferences and convenings. i.c. stars currently operates programs in Chicago, Columbus, and Milwaukee and plans to launch the Kansas City program this spring.
Most of the Director’s work can be accomplished remotely, but travel to the offices will be required including up to a month in Kansas City as i.c. stars become operational there. Compensation will be in the range of $115 to $125K with a comprehensive benefit package and generous vacation time and paid leave.
