Cobre Consolidated School District (CSD), located in Bayard, New Mexico rests in the foothills of the Gila National Forest in the southwestern portion of the State of New Mexico. In addition to beautiful mountain views, the climate is noted for its clear mountain air, low humidity and four gentle seasons. The area’s quiet charm and friendly ways combine with a range of outdoor recreation options. Close access to neighboring Silver City provides a vibrant historic downtown, an arts community, and dozens of festivals and events throughout the year. Urban amenities in Albuquerque are Less than four hours to the north, Las Cruces is just under two hours to the east, and Tucson, AZ is within 4 hours to the west.
Cobre CSD operates four Pre-K – 5 elementary schools located in Bayard, Santa Clara, Hurley and San Lorenzo; a middle school (6-8); and a high school (9-12) with a total district enrollment of approximately 1,100 students. The district provides four preschool programs, one at each elementary school, for eligible students and families.
The community is deeply invested in the school district. We see this investment through successful passage of levies, parent and community support for school events and activities, partnerships with community leaders and organizations, and strong school/family partnerships.

The Director of Operations supports the Superintendent in the day-to-day management of transportation and building/grounds services. This role ensures all buildings and grounds meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for a safe, healthy, and clean environment. The director helps coordinate and manage building maintenance, facility repairs, and renovation efforts. The director also directs and manages the facilities, transportation, and construction departments, personnel, and contractors. The director develops, revises, maintains, and implements the facility master plan for the district and provides an orderly pattern of facilities growth through advanced planning and programmed development. This position reports directly to the Superintendent.
