The Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC) is a world-class mountain sports organization that serves a wide range of athletes throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. We are seeking an experienced, accomplished leader for its next Executive Director. The ideal candidate will possess exemplary leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate youth athletes, their families, and AVSC staff to achieve AVSC’s goals and to value the Club’s mission, vision, and core values: Commitment; Integrity; Teamwork.
Job Summary
The AVSC Executive Director is responsible for overall planning and administration, including program management, fundraising, overall brand positioning, community relations, and business operations. Areas of responsibility also include policy development and administration as well as personnel and fiscal management. The Executive Director is responsible for the Club’s accomplishment of the long-range strategic goals and short-term objectives of AVSC’s five programs: Alpine, Nordic, Freestyle/Freeride, Snowboarding, and the Aspen Supports Kids (recreational). The new leader is expected to sustain and strengthen the all-around excellence of AVSC, from coaching novice athletes to developing elite, world-class competitors.
SALARY RANGE/COMPENSATION:
Full-time year-round. Annual compensation between $175,000-$200,000, based on experience. Benefits include a retirement plan with 5% match; family medical, dental, and vision Insurance; paid vacation time; long and short-term disability, maternity leave, paid sick Leave; paid holidays; and complimentary family season ski passes and AVSC program fees. Housing assistance may be available.

Who We Are and What We Do
Aspen, at its core, is a mountain town rooted in winter sports and the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club (AVSC) is a revered, cornerstone organization. AVSC has been the vehicle to experience Aspen in its purest form for generations for youth living in the Roaring Fork Valley. Established in 1937, AVSC is a 501 (c)(3) community-based youth development organization that serves over 3,200 young athletes annually. It is the oldest and most successful youth nonprofit in the Roaring Fork Valley. With an annual operating budget of $7.3 million, 28 full- time, year-round staff, and over 140 staff and coaches in our winter season, AVSC is dedicated to access and excellence while instilling our core values of commitment, teamwork, and integrity. AVSC’s programming offerings positively impacting their physical and mental well-being, while creating a strong community and sense of connection where cultural background and financial resources are not factors. AVSC uses skiing, snowboarding, and biking as a platform for youth to experience the mountains while building character, challenging themselves, staying healthy, and making new friends. We continue to provide top-tier coaches and instructors in our Alpine, Freestyle, Nordic, Snowboarding, and Recreational programs.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of successful leadership in an organization of similar or greater size
and scope. - A demonstrated and proven commitment to organizational, professional, and personal
excellence. - A record of success in fundraising and partnership building.
- Experience in personnel, operational and financial management.
- Evidence of being an immersive presence and respected leader in one’s local
community. - Experience with youth sports organizations strongly preferred.
- A passion for outdoor mountain sports and preferably experience in alpine or Nordic
skiing, snowboarding, and/or cycling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Operating an efficient and professional organization. This includes developing and overseeing capital and operating budgets, insurance, legal counsel, internal systems, policy, and procedures for monitoring the organization’s ongoing health.
- Developing and executing a comprehensive annual and long-term fundraising plan that will generate contributed income from a broad base of supporters, including individuals, foundations, corporations and businesses, and government entities.
- Supervising and managing personnel AVSC’s athletic programs, fund-raising, financial operations, communications, and special events.
- Collaborating with the Board of Directors and staff to develop, implement, and evaluate a long-term strategic plan to achieve the organization’s goals.
- Actively advocating for AVSC’s mission and vision to the Aspen community and the greater Roaring Fork Valley community and positioning AVSC as a professional and valuable community resource.
- Sustaining and strengthening the roles and relationships with the Aspen Skiing Company and the Aspen and Roaring Fork school districts.
- Building and nurturing mutually beneficial, highly significant partnerships and community relationships.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure the highest quality of governance and support for the Club
- Develop and strengthen overall brand position, marketing materials, and community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborating with key personnel to implement best practices of fundraising, marketing, public relations, and programs.
