The Vista Charter School in beautiful Montrose, Colorado is seeking an Executive Director committed to ensuring a successful high school experience and solid career and life ready preparation for students seeking an alternative to the traditional public high school. Vista is part of the Montrose County School district and allows each student to choose the path they want to take to obtain their high school diploma. Vista provides multiple pathways to graduation and an innovative and expanding career and technical education program. This year the school will offer an on-site bicycle technician program and also works with individual students to offer opportunities to earn postsecondary certificates in areas including: Certified Nurse’s Aide, Dental Assisting, Cosmetology, Teacher’s Aide, and Welding. With new leadership Vista will continue to build this program and plan to offer more opportunities in the near future.
The new Executive Director should be able to demonstrate evidence of being an excellent communicator, authentic collaborator, a regular and visible presence, and a role model for students and staff. Most important, he or she must demonstrate and deep and authentic commitment to meeting the diverse, personal academic and social-emotional needs of high school students who struggle in traditional settings. The future Executive Director must clearly live and breathe Vista’s published commitment to “create a customized educational plan for each student and to take the time to meet with each student and their family to determine the best pathway for them … to graduate from high school and successfully transition to life after high school based on their individual goals.” The salary range is between $95,000 and $120,000 depending on experience and education. The district also provides generous health and retirement benefits.
Vista Charter School is located in an extraordinary outdoor environment. Montrose is an exceptionally beautiful Western Colorado community which sits at an elevation of 5,794 feet and is nestled within easy reach of a remarkably vast selection of recreational and cultural experiences.
