HYA is assisting the Homewood City Schools, Alabama as it offers an excellent opportunity to lead alongside a Board that is committed to educate and empower all students to maximize their unique potential. The Board is seeking a superintendent, who has had a successful track record as an instructional leader in a diverse school system to be its next superintendent.
The selected candidate will be a visible and approachable member of the community and the school system of approximately 4,200 students with a highly qualified and dedicated staff of approximately 600 in 5 busy buildings. The next superintendent will be present in schools and community, building relationships and enhancing partnerships in the community and the schools, especially in the development of a team with the Board.
The Board seeks someone who is guided by a deep sense of integrity and is a strategic thinker and leader of a collaborative decision-making process. This individual will understand the two-way nature of communications and therefore seek a transparent approach with staff and community in developing and executing the mission, vision and goals of the school system.
The Board of the Homewood City Schools is looking for a personable and trustworthy servant leader, who will commit to understanding and investing in the Homewood community in a spirit that reflects a value for diversity.
It is expected that a regionally competitive compensation package will be offered. Due to the Coronavirus’ impact nationwide, screening will begin in late June and the slate is expected to be presented to the Board shortly thereafter. Dr. Bill Cleveland was officially retiring after 12 years as the current superintendent on June 30, 2020; however, he has agreed to serve until his replacement is appointed by the Board.
