Located in Litchfield County, a few miles north of I-84 and 90 miles from Manhattan, New Milford is often typified as a caring and friendly residential community. Likewise, New Milford is recognized as a unique summer destination as many families enjoy the amenities surrounding a historic downtown area and Candlewood Lake. New Milford Public Schools is a highly rated educational system with upgraded buildings and beautiful athletic turf fields. The district serves approximately 4,000 students in 5 schools with a current annual budget of approximately $62 million. There are two elementary schools, grades PK-2 (Northville and Hill & Plain Schools), one intermediate school, grades 3-5 (Sarah Noble Intermediate School), one middle school, grades 6-8 (Schaghticoke Middle School, and one high school, grades 9-12 (New Milford High School.
