Ector County Independent School District, in Odessa, Texas is offering an excellent opportunity to lead alongside a Board that is committed to hiring a student-focused leader, with a successful record as in a diverse school district; an honest, open communicator, visible and approachable in the district and the community it serves. ECISD’s next superintendent will bring a sense of urgency to the work, while making a commitment to stay in the district for an extended period of time.
The superintendent will serve the needs of 30,000 students with a qualified and dedicated staff of 3,500 on 43 campuses, while building relationships in the community and district, especially a Team of 8 with the Board. The Board seeks a strategic thinker and implementer, who understands the two-way nature of accountability, using a collaborative approach with staff and community in developing and executing the mission, vision and goals of the district, guided by a deep sense of integrity and passion for education and students.
The ECISD Board is looking for a trustworthy educator, adept at recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining quality staff to capably assist with the work of the district. The successful applicant for this position will listen to staff in the process of analyzing data to make and recommend decisions while expressing a caring nature for students and stakeholders.
A regionally competitive compensation package will be offered. Screening begins in February and the slate will be presented to the Board in March. Mr. Jim Nelson is serving as the Interim Superintendent and will serve until a transition can be made for the new superintendent to begin on July 1, 2019 or sooner.
