The School Board of the Sioux Falls, Schools is seeking an exemplary leader to serve as their next Superintendent of Schools. The District’s 24,000 students are provided multiple pathways to success with innovative initiatives to include special emphasis schools and ground breaking career and technical programs. The District includes 23 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 3 traditional high schools, an alternative high school, a project-based learning high school, a career and technical education academy, one post-secondary technical institute and other district-owned facilities. Community members uniformly express their pride and enumerate the numerous benefits to living in Sioux Falls and income tax free South Dakota. In September of 2018 voters passed a $190,000,000 bond referendum with over 80% of votes cast supporting the bond question.
The community offers outstanding amenities that contribute to an excellent quality of life that is enjoyed by the residents. A vibrant city with a small town heart is frequently noted as a unique and endearing quality found in Sioux Falls. The five member board works together in a collaborative fashion with the administration. The board has chosen to conduct a confidential search with the names of applicants and interviewed finalist not to be released to the media or community. Screening will begin immediately with a slate to be presented to the School Board mid February. Start date is July 1, 2020 or as agreed.
