The Township of Union is located in north-central Union County. It is traversed by a network of local and regional roadways including the Garden State Parkway, Interstate 78, US Route 22, and State Route 82 (Morris Avenue). The Union County municipalities of Elizabeth, Hillside, Springfield, Kenilworth, and Roselle Park, and the Essex County communities of Irvington, Maplewood, and Millburn border the township. The community is located approximately 20 miles from New York City and 80 miles from Philadelphia.
The Union Public School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Union Township, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2023–24 school year, the district, comprised of 10 schools, had an enrollment of 7,503 students and 576.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.0:1.
The Township of Union Board of Education Is seeking an exceptional educational leader who will foster learning experiences that are academically, intellectually, and personally challenging to every student. The successful applicant is expected to engage the community and create partnerships that will ensure equitable access and inclusion to all domains of its operation and programs to support the social, emotional, and academic growth for all students no matter their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, learning style, disability, sexual orientation, or sexual identity. The successful applicant should have success with whole child education that will lead to the creation and implementation of programs that support the holistic development of all students.
Specific desired characteristics and qualifications are expected to be available and posted on or around November 2, 2023. Candidates must possess or immediately be eligible for a New Jersey School Administrator certificate or a Certificate of Eligibility. A multiyear contract will be offered with a salary in the range of $250,000 subject to actual experience, qualifications, and negotiations.
