Dr. Burton has experience as a classroom teacher, building principal and 35 years as a school superintendent. His experiences span 44 years as a public school educator and include graduate level teaching in school administration at universities in Michigan and NH. Since 2012 Dr. Burton has been an adjunct professor in the doctoral program for educational leadership at Southern New Hampshire University. He has presented at numerous educational conferences and his opinion pieces have been widely published in regional newspapers and several national educational journals. For 30 years he authored a monthly educational column in support of public school education. Dr. Burton served as the director of an overseas American school (Nicaragua) and has worked in both rural and suburban districts, most notably for 17 years as superintendent of a high preforming district in the greater Boston Area. Dr. Burton is committed to public school education: to student and teacher success in the classroom, fiscal accountability, two way communication with community residents and transparent decision making .
