Dr. Kristi Sandvik, an Oregon native, has served as superintendent of the Buckeye Elementary School District in Buckeye, Arizona for the past five years providing an outstanding education for approximately 5,200 students and eight school campuses. Prior to her Superintendency, Sandvik has had a robust educational career as an assistant superintendent, executive director, special education director, school administrator and teacher as well as an adjunct professor. Her passion is transformational leadership and she has been able to lead the Buckeye Elementary School District through successful growth, passages of bonds, overrides, and systemic change. Each day Sandvik is committed to living her district’s mission of “A Community Passionate about Student Success” and she does this through her deep community roots, leading by example and connecting with her colleagues and communities. Active in her civic and educational communities, Kristi is the President–Elect of the National Minority Student Achievement Network, serves on the board of Arizona’s Business and Education Executive Board, is the Immediate Past President of the Buckeye Lion’s Club, and is on the Executive Committee of the American Association of School Administrators among others. She was honored in 2015 as the VH1 Save the Music National Superintendent of the Year for her contributions to music education in the Buckeye Elementary School District. Additional honors include the Arizona School Administrators Distinguished Administrator award for 2016, Buckeye Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year and Who’s Who Among Educators in America. In her spare time, Kristi loves to read, travel and play golf. She is also writing a book about Empowering Women in Leadership.
