Dr. Steven Webb became superintendent of Vancouver (Wash.) Public Schools in July 2008. He has a distinguished 33-year career in public education in Washington and California. In 2016, Steve was named Washington State Superintendent of the Year, AASAs National Superintendent of the Year finalist, and an Education Week Leader To Learn From. He also received the Coalition for Community Schools National Superintendent Leadership Award and Education Research and Development Institutes Excellence in Leadership Award. Steve belongs to several national organizations including The Horace Mann League, Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools, and National Coalition of Community Schools. He recently served as president of the Washington Association of School Administrators. He is a frequent presenter at state, regional, and national conferences and a published author in professional journals. He is a hands-on leader who regularly visits classrooms at 37 school sites and periodically works the various jobs of the districts 3,300 employees.
