Charlie Comfort is an HYA associate in the Midwest region, based primarily out of Iowa.
Charlie brings a unique perspective to educational leadership through ten years of school board service and extensive experience in organizational leadership and continuous improvement. During his board service, Charlie gained firsthand experience in superintendent search and selection, district governance, strategic planning, and community engagement while helping lead the district through periods of significant organizational change.
Charlie’s leadership experience spans both education and healthcare. A strong advocate for effective governance and leadership, Charlie is passionate about helping boards and leadership teams build trust, establish clear strategic direction, and create cultures that support excellence and student achievement. He is known for a collaborative leadership style and an ability to bring diverse stakeholders together around shared goals and organizational priorities.
Charlie’s primary consulting areas include superintendent and executive leadership searches, board governance, strategic planning, organizational culture, community engagement, operational efficiency studies, leadership development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Charlie has presented at School Boards’ Annual Conventions on board collaboration and governance practices.
