Dr. Michael Ginsburg is a retired university administrator and faculty member at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and a former board member and board president at Northbrook District 27 in Illinois.

At District 27, Dr. Ginsburg served three terms as board president. During his terms, District 27 made a bold decision to close one of its schools which led to strong financial solvency for future years. Dr. Ginsburg and his colleagues engaged the community in listening sessions to inform community members and hear their concerns about the school closing.

Over his 48-year career at UIC, Dr. Ginsburg served in multiple leadership capacities including the university’s chief human resources, chief financial, and chief student affairs officer roles. In the Chief HR role, Dr. Ginsburg oversaw recruitment, compensation, systems, and labor relations. UIC has 26 labor unions and Dr. Ginsburg served as the lead negotiator for the university during faculty union contract negotiations. Dr. Ginsburg led or participated in many searches for top leadership positions. He also co-led a group which was responsible for reviewing federal policy changes and helping the university determine how to respond to challenges regarding federal funding and DEI.

Dr. Ginsburg can lead or support superintendent searches, school board onboarding/training/relationship building, community engagement, union negotiations, and crisis management.
