Dr. Robert A. Martinez brings nearly four decades of public education experience in California to his work as an educational leader and consultant, including service as Superintendent in multiple districts. His career has centered on strengthening organizations, developing leaders, navigating complex human resources and personnel matters, building effective governance relationships, and creating educational environments where adults work collaboratively to improve opportunities and outcomes for students. He has also served as a Board Director for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA).
Throughout his career, Dr. Martinez has approached leadership through collaboration, organizational alignment, accountability, relationship building, and resilient problem solving. His experience in both superintendent and human resources leadership provides him with a the knowledge and experience with the interconnectedness of school organizations. Known professionally as “The Resiliency Guy,” Dr. Martinez believes effective leaders do not avoid difficult situations; they develop the relationships, systems, courage, and collective capacity necessary to face challenges together, make thoughtful decisions, and continuously improve their organizations.
Dr. Martinez provides consulting in human resources and personnel matters, organizational problem solving, superintendent and executive coaching, cabinet and leadership-team development, board governance and development, superintendent-board relations, organizational culture, conflict resolution, and resilient leadership. He works with districts to identify challenges, strengthen leadership systems, facilitate difficult conversations, develop greater clarity and alignment, and build the organizational capacity necessary to move forward.
