Jim began his career as an English teacher followed by leadership roles as: high school administrator; Director and Assistant Superintendent for Personnel; Associate Superintendent for Administration; and Chief Finance Officer and Superintendent. Through the talent of his top leaders, principals and the school systems’ teachers he was able in all systems to guide an increase in graduation rates for all students, improve SAT and ACT scores, and increase enrollment and results in Advanced
Placement courses. He was recognized for his leadership through state level awards.
Dr. Merrill enjoys working with school leaders in development and problem solving. He particularly enjoys contributing in the following areas: Strategic Planning; Board and
Superintendent Relations; Executive Leadership Development; Effective Internal and External Communications; Budgeting and Finance; Organizational Logistics; Media Relations and Coaching; Employee Relations; Executive Searches; Board Governance; and Superintendent Evaluations.
