Kara Caforio is an experienced education and civic leader based in the Midwest with a career spanning K-12 education, management consulting, school board governance, and community leadership. She served eight years on the Board of Education, including five years as Board President, providing governance and strategic oversight for a large unit school district. Earlier in her career, Kara was an elementary school teacher and management consultant, bringing a perspective informed by her experience in the classroom, business, community, and school district leadership.
Throughout her experiences, Kara has focused on clarifying priorities, strengthening governance practices, effectively engaging stakeholders and ensuring strategic objectives are translated into actionable and measurable plans that elevate outcomes for students. She co-chaired a multi-year community engagement and long-range planning process that shaped district academic and operational priorities, culminating in the expansion of educational opportunities for students and the successful passage of a multi-million-dollar facilities referendum. Her approach prioritizes collaboration, accountability and communication while fostering alignment among district leadership, staff, families, and community partners.
Kara is passionate about supporting boards and superintendents through leadership transitions, strategic planning and community engagement while strengthening governance practices to achieve long-term success.
