“I will always go to and listen to those closest to whatever the issue is that we’re trying to tackle. Because if we’re talking about curriculum, we should be talking to teachers. If we’re talking about an issue parents have, we should be talking to parents...”
Dr. Angélica Ramsey*

The Board of Education for Fort Worth Independent School District voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Angélica Ramsey as superintendent of schools beginning September 2022. In Fort Worth, she is leading a diverse population of nearly 77,000 students in grades k-12. Dr. Ramsey served as superintendent in the Midland Independent School District in Midland, Texas and before that she led Pleasant Valley School District, in Camarillo, California as superintendent.
Dr. Ramsey joined the district with a focus on putting students first. In an effort to get started on achieving goals, Dr. Ramsey is making it a priority to spend the first few months in Fort Worth talking with all stakeholder groups. “I will always go to and listen to those closest to whatever the issue is that we’re trying to tackle. Because if we’re talking about curriculum, we should be talking to teachers. If we’re talking about an issue parents have, we should be talking to parents,” Ramsey said. “So I know the collective is much more intelligent and has many more ideas. I am one person in the school district. We need to lead together.” *
HYA would like to thank the Board for its commitment to the process and its confidence in HYA and lead associate, Peter Flynn. “It was a real pleasure to work with President Jackson and Attorney Newby, Board Liaison. We also congratulate Dr. Ramsey on the Board’s appointment of her as Superintendent and stand ready to assist her and the Board as they work to become a Team of 10,” stated Flynn.
