About Company

Brian Ewert has been passionate about public education for more than 37 years, providing leadership in a variety of roles across urban and suburban school districts. His areas of expertise include district and school improvement, board of education relations, policy, community engagement, human resources, budget and finance, ballot initiatives, communications, curriculum, instruction and assessment, visioning, strategic planning, and goal-setting.

In retirement, Brian brings his leadership experience, practical judgment, and deep passion for public education to superintendent searches, superintendent evaluations, and leadership coaching. He is especially committed to helping boards understand that hiring a superintendent is one of the most important decisions they will make as a board, and that the right leader can have a lasting impact on students, staff, families, and the broader community.

Brian was named the 2015 Colorado Superintendent of the Year by the Colorado Association of School Executives for his leadership in adopting a common instructional model, setting clear expectations, and building community support for Englewood (CO) Public Schools.

Brian began his career in 1986 as a middle school teacher and coach in Nebraska, then moved to California in 1987, where he advanced from teacher to dean of students, assistant principal, and principal. He returned to Colorado in 1995 to lead the state’s first technology magnet school located in Academy School District Twenty in Colorado Springs. In 2000, he joined Douglas County Schools as principal of a new elementary school in Highlands Ranch, and in 2006 became the district’s director of human resources. He was named superintendent of Englewood Schools in 2010 and later served as superintendent of Littleton Public Schools beginning in 2015, where he served until his retirement in 2023.

Brian previously served as co-chair of the Denver Area School Superintendents’ Council, working alongside fellow superintendents on regional issues, leadership collaboration, and matters affecting public education across the Denver metropolitan area. He has also served as adjunct faculty for the University of Northern Colorado, teaching graduate courses in the master’s-level principal preparation program.

Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Nebraska, a master’s degree in School Administration and Leadership from California State University, and Superintendent Licensure from the University of Colorado.
