Newton Public Schools (NPS), located in Newton, Massachusetts is welcoming a new Superintendent to the district. Dr. Anna Nolin will assume the leadership role beginning July 1, 2023 for the district that serves approximately 12,000 students at its twenty two schools.
Anna Nolin has been serving as superintendent of Natick Public Schools since 2018, first as Interim Superintendent before taking a permanent position in 2019. The Natick School Committee released a statement to express how much they value the leadership and work of Dr. Nolin.* Prior to working as Superintendent, she was the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation.
Dr. Nolin has an extensive background in education with roles in administration and teaching. Nolin is president of the the New England Association of School Superintendents and is a course instructor at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education.
The unanimous decision to hire Nolin came after the new appointee participated in community forum interviews. Newton’s Mayor and member of the school committee, stated, “What [Nolin] talks about with direct experience and a sound theory of the case…outcomes and data, kept surfacing in a very positive way.” * School Committee member, Christopher Brezski remarked, “She [Nolin] never wavered on having a focus on an outcome.” He went on to say, “We as a district need to be more outcome driven.”
