During a special board meeting on Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Colby School Board selected Dr. Patrick Galligan as the new Superintendent of the Colby School District located in Colby, Wisconsin. The district serves approximately 1,000 students. Dr. Galligan will officially assume his new position on July 1, 2023.
“The Colby School District is looking forward to the addition of Dr. Patrick Galligan and the knowledge, skills, and leadership he brings to our District after working a variety of roles in education for over 20 years,” stated Kristen Seifert, Executive Assistant of Colby School District. The new Superintendent is currently the principal at Muir Middle School in Wausau, WI. He began working in the Wausau School District in 2016, first as an activities/athletic director, then moving into the role of associate principal at one of the district’s high schools, before moving into the role of principal.*
Dr. Patrick Galligan welcomes the opportunity to serve the District and work with the Colby School Community. “To talk with each person, to see all the great work going on in the buildings, and especially seeing the students in their classrooms, was something that helped me understand that yes, this is a place that I want to be,” stated Galligan of his time touring the schools during the interview process.
The Colby School District utilized the services of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to provide direction, guidance, and expertise on their search for a Superintendent who matched the Leadership Profile. “We are extremely pleased with the quality and commitment they were able to provide,” stated Executive Assistant Kristen Seifert. Board President William Tessmer noted that with the guidance of HYA and its associates, “The Board of Education was provided with many qualified candidates.” HYA’s lead associate Scott Winch, a local, retired superintendent commented, “The Colby School Board and staff were great to work with and I believe that Dr. Galligan is going to be a tremendous asset to the school district.”
