Dr. Richard McGregory has had a distinguished career as a scholar, administrative practitioner, and champion for access and excellence in education, economic/workforce development, and organizational leadership. Specifically, he offers: research and practical experience in addressing education policy, organizational disparities, and broadening participation in the scientific workforce; experience disseminating research findings with practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders; and experience in organizing research which collects as well as analyzes data using multiple modalities. Throughout his career, Dr. McGregory has worked to expand access to experiences which allow students from historically excluded groups to engage in high demand research, academic, and career development.
Dr. McGregory currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Jenkins and Associates Consulting LLC. Some of his previous senior leadership roles include: Senior Executive of Staff, Madison Metropolitan School District; Executive Director for Strategic Communication and Achievement Accountability, Robbinsdale Area Schools; and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Multicultural Affairs and Student Success, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Dr. McGregory is a faculty member in the Business Management Department at Madison Area Technical College, where his teaching, service, and research addresses critical local, state, and national workforce development needs. His previous teaching experience was at the following institutions: University of Wisconsin-Madison (Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis Department); and University of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (Economics, Mathematics, and Developmental Studies departments). In these roles, he has collaborated with colleagues to develop new courses and secure external funding to conduct research which impacted the economic and community development of diverse communities.
Dr. McGregory’s research interests include: educational and healthcare labor markets; educational policy; organizational leadership; and underserved communities’ access to capital. Moreover, he has employed a variety of research methodologies and econometric techniques to investigate issues of access and success in education, employment, and economic development. In addition to publishing a plethora of studies, he has provided quantitative and writing support to assist more than twenty-five scholars from historically excluded groups in successfully completing their doctoral dissertations.
Dr. McGregory’s academic credentials include: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing), University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh; Master’s degree in Business Administration (Management/Marketing), University of Wisconsin-Whitewater; and Ph.D. in Economics, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He also completed postgraduate fellowships in Harvard University’s Management Development Program and Duke University’s Diversity Initiative for Tenure in Economics.
