Edward R. Murray, Ed.D. (ABD)
About Company
Edward R. Murray focused his doctoral education on Education Systems Improvement Science, supported by his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Murray has over 30 years of experience in education in both the private (post-secondary) and public sector. He recently left public service after serving as the superintendent of Lopez Island School District in Lopez Island, Washington. With his experience, Murray has relocated to southeast Texas, where he has established himself as an Associate with HYA. Murray’s career in education started in Texas, but took him to California, South Carolina, and Washington State in service to a broad cross-section of communities.
Throughout his career, Murray has served in a variety of capacities as a teacher, building administrator, high school and district athletic director, director of public relations, director of personalized competency-based education (PCBE) development, and district chief of staff, as well as a district superintendent. Murray has led multiple districts through a strategic planning process, and has led efforts in two school districts to introduce PCBE programs. As a complement to PCBE, Murray also introduced the concept of teams of teachers working with cohorts of students (a model currently being supported through AASA and Arizona State University’s “Next Education Workforce” model).
Though new to HYA, Edward R. Murray is excited to join HYA as an Associate. He believes he can be an asset to any school district or HYA team with his knowledge and experience in strategic planning, PCBE, athletics, communications, and policy management. Having spent the last 11 years in a variety of leadership roles, Murray has engaged in a broad spectrum of school district operational growth and development opportunities. He is looking forward to continuing in service to the community of education stakeholders.
