Kaweeda G. Adams, MEd

Mrs. Adams served as the superintendent for the City School District of Albany (CSDA) from August of 2017-January 2023. CSDA has 16 schools and 2 administrative buildings with approximately 9000 students and 2000 employees. In CSDA, Mrs. Adams has been a leader in developing the first Equity in Education policy (Jan 2019) which served as the foundational lens for restructuring instructional and operational best practices. Her district-wide focus on STEM education (PreK-12) led to the first high school hydroponics Freight Farm in the Capital Region and 1:1 technology for all CSDA students. During her tenure, the graduation rate increased from 65% (2017) to 82% (2023), while closing the achievement gap among diverse groups of students.

In the education community, Mrs. Adams was a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). She was appointed to the Governor’s Commission on Reimagining Education in NY State during the worldwide COVID pandemic. She has been an advocate for the students in Albany, NY and NY State as a whole through her legislative participation at the local and state levels. Her expertise is in developing equitable systems, mentoring executive leadership teams, building strong, positive School Board and Superintendent relationships, strategic planning and professional development at all levels of the organization.
