A Collegial Cohort for Early-Career Superintendents
Program Overview
A cohort of sitting superintendents that frame leadership principles and actions designed to result in greater focus, impact and stability in the board/superintendent’s team. Participating superintendents will:
- Devote attention, study and contribute to conversations over four critical dimensions of superintendency leadership.
- Participate in table talks, hear peer case studies/presentations and receive artifacts/handouts.
- Develop leadership “brand” and practices that result in career success and longevity

Four Critical Superintendent Leadership Dimensions and Focus
Board Governance
Integrating strong communication and relationship protocols for superintendent/board team
- Effectively managing factions, dissenting/rogue members and individual agendas
- Aligning “the Board Agenda/Focus/Unity” around the strategic direction.
- Facilitating the Board in developing and adhering to commitment documents.
- Positioning the superintendent for fair and strong annual reviews and longevity.
Planning and Execution of Strategic Work
- Building alignment, ownership and conviction for key strategic initiatives.
- Empowering key leaders to facilitate planning for effective implementation.
- Enabling the development of systems, structures and action steps.
- The effective development and communication of a relevant scorecard.
Strengthening Your Role as the School and Community Leader
- Mobilize staff and community toward a shared vision
- Exercise political skills for building necessary coalitions
- Building a positive climate for teamwork and collaborative problem solving.
- Building relationships that develop the Board/Superintendent “brand” with stakeholders.
4. Leveraging AI for Efficiency
- Building AI workflows to empower the superintendent to be visible and connecting with staff, students, parents and community.
