Dr. Kelvin Adams has served as Superintendent of Schools for the Saint Louis Public School District (SLPSD) since 2008. Prior to his Superintendency, Dr. Adams was Chief of Staff for the Recovery School District (RSD) in New Orleans, Associate Dean/Interim Dean and Charter School Liaison for the College of Education for Southern University of New Orleans, a Senior High and Middle School Principal, an Executive Director of Middle Schools in New Orleans, and a Classroom Teacher.
The Saint Louis Public School District realized exceptional accomplishments under the leadership of Dr. Adams. In addition to an improved graduation rate and correcting a budget deficit to a $100M+ surplus, a nationally recognized school for refugees and immigrants (NCNAA) and the Innovative Concept Academy for judicated youth both opened during his tenure. The Saint Louis Plan that provides formal teacher support, guidance, and evaluation through a Peer Assistance and Review process was implemented. SLPSD also became the only District in Missouri to provide free telehealth services to all students.
