Lydia Kvinta’s expertise lies within bilingual education and special education, particularly with dually identified students, English learners with an IEP. Over the span of thirteen years, Lydia served as a principal consultant in the Special Education Department and later in the Multilingual Department of the Illinois State Board of Education.
Lydia’s cultural, educational, and multilinguistic background uniquely positioned her to focus on English learners with disabilities, mainly in correct identification for bilingual or special education services, evaluating Els suspected of having a disability, designing MTSS suitable for Els, writing an IEP for English learners, providing both types of services, interpretations and translations requirements, and culturally and linguistically appropriate communication with parents and other stakeholders.
My consulting services will focus on bilingual and special education programming and the specific segments that improve services and meet student needs.
