Peter Flynn

Dr. Peter Flynn is a Senior Associate with HYA and has thirty-four years of Superintendent experience in Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa and Pennsylvania. Dr. Flynn was Illinois Superintendent of the Year in 2012 and represented Illinois in that capacity at the national education conference of AASA. He is a Past President and long-time member of the governing body of the Urban Superintendents Association of America, a current member and twice Past President of the Century Club (a national honorary group of Superintendents), and a current member of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). He has also published professional articles and presented at national conferences on instructional leadership, strategic planning and maintaining balance in one’s life. His extensive experience of more than fifty years in public education brings a national perspective to the team.
On behalf of HYA, Peter has worked on searches in Missouri, Tennessee, Texas (Fort Bend ISD, Round Rock ISD, Eanes ISD, Humble ISD, Houston ISD, Northwest ISD, Midland ISD, Garland ISD, Crowley ISD , Lancaster ISD and Ector County (Odessa)), and most recently East Aurora, IL and Freeport, IL.
Dr. Flynn has also taught full time at Northeastern Illinois University, University of Kentucky and part-time at the Quad City Graduate Center in Moline, IL.
Peter served as an Interim Superintendent in Galesburg, IL and Freeport, IL after retirement.
Peter and his wife, the former Joan Fausch, live in Freeport, IL and they have two daughters (Kristin and Erin) and three grandchildren (Lincoln, Maggie and Rocky).
