J. Thomas Gregory, MA

Mr. J Thomas Gregory holds a BS degree in Mathematics and an MA degree in Educational Leadership.  Mr. Gregory recently retired in June 2023 after serving 32 years in Academy District 20 (Colorado) in a variety of roles including teacher, coach, Athletic Director, Chief Financial Officer, and Superintendent. 

Throughout his career, Mr. Gregory served in a variety of roles in the 26,000 student, high achieving district.  With each opportunity his knowledge across all areas of teaching and learning, athletics and activities, budget and finance, facility operations, security, strategic planning, ballot initiatives, community relations, and leadership expanded exponentially.  Under his leadership, the school district earned the “Accredited with Distinction” designation from the state of Colorado, the highest accreditation designation available – even through the COVID impacted years.  Under Mr. Gregory’s leadership, traditional compensation practices were overhauled, employee benefit structures enhanced, a $270 million capital construction campaign was initiated and completed, and nearly 80% of third graders achieved at or above grade level in reading.  As a result, Mr. Gregory was nominated for Colorado Superintendent of the Year in two of his four years.
