Job Description

Whitewater Unified School District is seeking a Director of Business Services beginning on July 1, 2024, with a base salary range expected to be $130,000 to $140,000 (based on experience); other benefits to be negotiated. The Director of Business Services is responsible for managing and overseeing the District’s Business Services to include accounting, purchasing, and payroll. All in alignment with the District mission, the policies of the School Board, and directive of the Superintendent.

Whitewater Unified School District has elements of rural and suburban communities. The City of Whitewater has a population of approximately 14,500. Whitewater is located in southern Wisconsin, approximately 45 miles west of Milwaukee, 45 miles east of Madison, and 100 miles northwest of Chicago. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with an enrollment of over 10,500 students, offers residents a variety of cultural and educational opportunities. The district serves 2000 (PK-12) students, in three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 3-5 years of related management experience in government or corporate settings, with preference for K-12 experience.
  2. Excellent leadership and self-direction skills, good judgment in handling difficult situations, and good organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, lead diverse work teams, and develop strategies for organizational excellence.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  5. Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
  6. Advanced analytical skills, including operational data analysis, quality management, and budgetary/financial management.
  7. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
  8. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  9. Completion of or willingness to become certified with School Business Official (#5008) Wisconsin DPI License.

 

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Budget development and long-range financial planning
  2. Develop financial reports
  3. Complete claims for state and federal funds
  4. Oversee employee benefit programs
  5. Manage the district’s insurance program
