Director of Finance
General Definition of Work
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Director II – Finance manages the financial operations of the Danville Public School system.
Essential Functions
- Supervise the operations of the finance department, including accounts payable,
payroll, general ledger, and grant reporting - Assist with supervision of Finance Department staff responsible for accounting
and finance functions of the Division - Assist with the development of the District annual operating budget
- Assist other District Personnel in the preparation of grant applications and
budgets - Analyze a variety of financial information to provide direction and support, make
recommendations, maximize use of funds, and/or ensure overall operations are
within budget - Monitor budget allocations, expenditures, and related financial activities to
ensure that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within
budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed - Create and organize various documents, like budgets, financial statements, and
reports, to keep records, meet compliance rules, and support decision-making. - Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelorâs Degree in Accounting or Related Field
- Masterâs Degree in Business Administration or CPA (preferred, not required)
- Minimum salary $102,051; final compensation based on years of supervisory
experience in a finance role
Physical Conditions and Work Contacts
Work is typically performed in the Central Office. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds and other limited physical activities are required. Daily contact is made with Central Office personnel. Communication with classified employees, teachers, and administrators in person and by telephone, email and/or in writing may occur often.
Terms of Employment
12 months (260 days); at least 8 hours per day
Evaluation
Performance evaluation will be conducted annually by the Chief Financial Officer on the
effectiveness by which the employee has carried out the above responsibilities.
