Job Description
Located in Westchester County, New York, the Katonah-Lewisboro School District serves approximately 2,800 students, K-12. Before attending John Jay Middle School and High School in Cross River, NY, elementary students attend one of three K-5 elementary schools located in Goldens Bridge, Katonah, and South Salem, NY.
The Katonah-Lewisboro community values education and is supportive of the work of the school district; a bond referendum for $49.5 million was recently approved by voters to support capital improvements at each school building.
In June 2023, 97% of graduating seniors planned to pursue higher education; of college bound students, 96% planned to attend four-year colleges and universities.
Across the district, staff members engage in ongoing professional learning and strive to create learning experiences for all students that are intellectually engaging, relevant, and take place in an active learning environment.
- John Jay High School offers 21 AP courses and in 2023 was awarded Platinum Level by the College Board (achieved by 6% of high schools nationally; 25% or more of the graduating class scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam)
- John Jay High School’s signature programs include Engineering and Robotics, Humanities Research, Science Research, Senior Research Seminar in Environmental Studies, and Senior Independent (Internship) Experience in the spring of senior year.
- District-wide commitment to Sustainability with building-level Green Teams or Clubs in every school; district goal for reducing carbon emissions by 85% by 2050.
- Thoughtfully articulated continuum of special services; social emotional learning practices; culture of belonging and inclusion
- Outstanding Fine and Performing Arts programs including theatrical performances at all levels, student-directed productions, participation in NYSSMA, and collaboration with local art museums.
- Well-established partnerships with supportive PTOs in each building, district-wide Special Education PTO, Arts Alive!, and John Jay Boosters.
- Robust athletic program includes 78 Modified, Freshman, Junior Varsity, Varsity and Unified teams; wide variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities contribute to a culture of involvement and belonging
Salary range for Superintendent $255,000-285,000
