The Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA) is committed to the academic success of every student, and to providing support and growth opportunities so each student can reach their full potential.
MVLA schools reflect the diversity, ambitions and spirit of innovation of Silicon Valley. Serving the communities of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, the MVLA district is comprised of two traditional high schools, an alternative high school, an adult education center, the Freestyle Academy for Arts & Technology, and Middle College. We also provide enhanced curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Our district serves a student population of 4,300 high school students; 98 percent of our graduates matriculate to college. In 2017, MVLA boasted more than 20 National Merit distinguished students. Our schools offer more than 40 Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors classes. Alta Vista High School is consistently ranked among the top continuation schools statewide. Our Freestyle Academy of Communication Arts and Technology has a nationwide reputation for excellence. The MVLA Adult School serves a diverse population of more than 8,000 students annually. All of our schools have received the maximum six-year accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
MVLA has a long history of high standards and high test scores. Our graduation and college acceptance rates are among the best in the state. Our Los Altos and Mountain View high schools are consistently ranked in the top 1% of high schools nationally.
Our debate, athletic, robotics and other extracurricular programs are top ranked in California and nation. We attract and retain enthusiastic, talented and caring faculty and staff to foster collegiality, respect, and cooperation among all students and staff. Approximately half of our teaching staff hold advanced degrees.
