"His experience through the ranks of education will benefit our district at all levels and through his leadership..."

Board of Trustee President, Dr. Vickie Tiblier

Mr. Michael Lindsey was selected by the Board of Trustees of the Ocean Springs School District (OSSD) as the next Superintendent. Mr. Lindsey will serve more than 7,000 students and educators in the Mississippi district.

The OSSD’s new leader has over 27 years of experience in Mississippi public education, working in numerous roles. Lindsey has served as coach, teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent.

Most recently, Michael Lindsey served as Assistant Superintendent of Pass Christian Public School District. Prior to working at Pass Christian, OSSD’s new leader was Principal of Gulfport High School for 14 years. During his time with the district he received several accolades, including being named as the 2015 Congressional District Administrator of the Year, and 2014 Mississippi Department of Education Administrator of the Year. Under his leadership the district was named as a leader in the development of their Career and College program. Mr. Lindsey was involved in several task forces and was an influential member of the school community. *

The Board of Trustees for Ocean Springs School District is excited to have Lindsey joining the district. “His experience through the ranks of education will benefit our district at all levels and through his leadership, OSSD will continue to build on the long-standing tradition of excellence in academics, arts, and athletics,” stated Board of Trustee President, Dr. Vickie Tiblier. The new Superintendent commented on how he is looking forward to working with all district stakeholders. “Together, we will create a culture of collaboration, creativity, and innovation that will empower our students and teachers to meet the mission of OSSD,” said the new Superintendent.

The Board of Trustees for Ocean Springs hired Mr. Lindsey after a four month search facilitated by Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA). The search was led by HYA Associates Dr. David Lee and Dr. Monica Browne. “It was a pleasure to work with the Board on this important project.  The members of the Board spent significant time and effort listening to the ideas expressed by stakeholders, screening candidates, and coming to consensus,” commended Dr. Browne of HYA.
