Academy Information

The Career Academy program is a 3 module program.

The Career Academy equips aspiring and current education leaders with the skills and confidence to excel in today’s rigorous board and community interview processes. Through three focused modules, participants gain a clear understanding of selection dynamics, sharpen their leadership story and executive presence, and practice methods for engaging effectively in both closed and public settings. With vast search experience, HYA equips candidates with strategies for a successful candidacy. Best for assistant principals and higher. This will help aspirants navigate the career path toward their desired terminal position.

Class Dates and Times:
Sessions are 1.5 hours and are on the third Tuesday of each month at:
4:00 PST/5:00 MST/6:00 CST/7:00 EST

  • Oct. 14, 2025: Module 1
  • Nov. 18, 2025: Module 2
  • Dec. 16, 2025: Module 3
  • Jan. 20, 2026: Module 1
  • Feb. 17, 2026: Module 2
  • March 16, 2026: Module 3
  • April 21, 2026: Module 1
  • May 19, 2026: Module 2
  • June 16, 2026: Module  3 

Length: Three modules, repeated thrice yearly

Content: Sessions are designed to live independently; all sessions are integral for success.

Module Details

Module 1:  Understanding the Education Executive Search Process

  • Compare closed vs. open interview formats, prepare for multiple interview formats including traditional, public candidate forums, timed Q&A, case study, and performance based

  • Manage high-pressure interviews, navigate stakeholder dynamics and controversial topics with confidence and nuance; address disagreement strategically

  • Strengthen media, video, and in-person presentation and refine communication 

Module 2: Creating Your Personal Leadership Brand

  • Craft a compelling disciplined leadership story that defines your unique value

  • Highlight student success with data aligned to district priorities

  • Build a strengths-based, education expert, leadership brand

Module 3: Documenting your Impact

  • Make your brand come to life through a digital portfolio of work

  • Align leadership impact to student achievement, community engagement, talent, finances, and facilities  

  • Present a polished leadership narrative aligned to the Leadership Profile and a 30/60/90-day entry plan
