The Search Process
The Board of Education of the Sterling Regional High School District, Camden County, is initiating a search for a Superintendent to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Education in accordance with the Board policies and New Jersey Statutes. The Board of Education has retained a consultant to assist in the selection of candidates to find an exceptional leader to follow in the tradition of excellence expected by this great regional school district and the Board of Education.
The Sterling Regional HS Superintendent position will be available on January 1, 2027. The successful candidate will assume the position on January 1,2027.
The Community
Sterling Regional High School District serves five sending communities in Camden County, New Jersey, providing a comprehensive high school experience for students in grades nine through twelve. Located in Somerdale, the district reflects a close-knit, community-oriented environment with a strong tradition of pride, engagement, and shared ownership among its stakeholders.
The district is recognized for its positive culture, commitment to student-centered learning, and emphasis on relationships. Sterling High School District participates in the New Jersey Interdistrict School Choice Program. The School Choice Program provides the opportunity for non-resident students to attend Sterling High School at no cost to their parents/guardians. The District has an active shared services agreement with one of its sending districts, Laurel Springs, for Administrative Services.

Superintendent Search Criteria
The Sterling Regional High School District seeks a highly visible, relationship-driven, and student-centered leader to serve as its next Superintendent of Schools. The ideal candidate will reflect the district’s commitment to trust, transparency, collaboration, and a strong, positive school culture, while advancing a clear vision for the future. Grounded in stakeholder input, the next superintendent will balance stability with thoughtful innovation, prioritize communication and consistency, and demonstrate a deep commitment to students, staff, and the broader community.
Required Qualifications:
● Possession of or eligibility for New Jersey School Administrator Certification
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes:
- Demonstrated success as a superintendent, central office administrator, and/or building principal
- Experience in a regional and/or secondary (Grades 9–12) school district
- Proven ability to lead with transparency, consistency, and strong communication across all stakeholder groups
- A visible, approachable leader who actively engages with students, staff, families, and the community
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive school culture grounded in trust, respect, and inclusion
- Strong track record of supporting and empowering teachers to enhance morale, retention, and student outcomes
- Experience with collaborative, inclusive decision-making that values stakeholder voice
- Ability to center decisions on student well-being, engagement, and achievement

Contract and Salary
The Sterling Regional High School Board of Education is prepared to offer a salary and benefit package based on background,
experience, and State law/regulations within the range of $170,000 to $200,000. The contract will have a term of three-to-five years.
