INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT VACANCY
HARTLAND CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS – HOWELL, MI  

(The permanent Hartland Consolidated Schools Superintendent position with a start date of July 1, 2027, will be posted January 4 through February 14, 2027.)

The Hartland Consolidated Schools, located in Howell, MI, is seeking an educational leader to serve as an Interim Superintendent beginning on January 1, 2027, through June 30, 2027. 

Hartland is a district consisting of approximately 93 square miles located in northeastern Livingston County with over a century-long tradition of educational excellence. The district is centered around M-59 and US-23. Flint and Ann Arbor are within a 30-minute drive, and Lansing and Detroit are within a 45-minute drive, making Hartland a perfect community for commuters. Hartland Consolidated Schools strives to maintain a vibrant, strong school system that meets the needs of its students and families. We draw on our rich heritage to serve as a guide to the future, which is the basis for Hartland’s Partners In Progress: a unique collaborative working relationship between the District, Cromaine Library, Hartland Township, and the Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce. The District also operates Hartland Community Education, providing recreational and educational opportunities to the community. 

The District serves approximately 4,900 students in grades PK-12 in 4 elementary schools, 1 intermediate school, 1 middle school, 1 comprehensive high school, 1 alternative high school, and 1 virtual academy.  Backed by 500 staff members and a $73M operating budget, the District is highlighted by a 98% graduation rate.

District Highlights:

• Academic excellence, including Hartland High School being ranked No. 117 among 678 Michigan public high schools in the 2026–27 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
• Parent satisfaction, evidenced by the 2023–24 Parent Perception Survey, in which 95.4% of responding parents gave district schools a grade of A or B. 94.1% of responding parents agreed or strongly agreed that school was a safe place for their child on that same survey.
• Facility investment, including recently completed bond-funded improvements to the high school stadium, baseball and softball complex, building infrastructure, instructional technology, and buses.
