Howard University Academy for Current and Aspiring Superintendents
Academy Information
The superintendent program is a 10 session program beginning in November of 2025 and ending in April of 2026.
Howard University’s School of Education, in collaboration with HYA, designed this leadership academy to bolster K-12 Educational Leadership. This program is tailored to enhance the representation of Black, Hispanic, women, and other underrepresented groups in leadership positions within U.S. public schools. This initiative marks a significant step forward in our commitment to nurturing exemplary leadership in education.
This program is a certificated program through Howard University. Individuals will receive a certificate from Howard University upon completion of each program.Â
This program includes an executive coach for each participant. The participant’s coach is part of the structure and goals of the program to enhance skills, set goals, prepare for career advancement, and improve personal and organizational performance.5April

Curriculum:
Alignment to PSEL standards and researched backed best practice. Guest lecturers are a part of every session; they are experts from the field and are uniquely qualified to address the contemporary issues facing education leaders.

Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. is a nationally recognized educational leader, antiracism advocate, and published author committed to racial equity in education. With more than two decades of experience in roles ranging from teacher to superintendent, he now leads Revolutionary ED, LLC and teaches future education leaders at Howard University. Dr. Hutchings brings a powerful voice to dismantling systemic racism in schools and building inclusive learning environments across the country.
