BCSD enrolls approximately 3,500 students in eight schools in one of America’s most beautiful locations, home to supportive communities and an expansive offering of artistic, musical, and outdoor recreational activities. The District spans the full continuum of socio-economics. Diversity defines the student population consisting of families from the Sun Valley resort area to outlying rural communities of Carey. While Blaine County is the wealthiest school district in Idaho, 35% of families are low-income.
The greater community provides extraordinary resources to the schools, and a host of local philanthropic, non-profit organizations regularly rise to provide opportunities to the under-served. All Board members are newly elected or appointed and highly motivated to strengthen programs and services that meet the personalized needs of all students, especially the growing diverse population. The Board is also deeply committed to transparent communication, to retaining their excellent teaching and administrative staff, and to fiscal responsibility.
