Mercer County Special Services School District
The Mercer County Special Services School District (MCSSSD) seeks an outstanding special education leader to serve as its successor Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 2027. The salary range is expected to be $215,000 to $228,000, subject to qualifications, experience, and contract negotiations.
About MCSSSD
Located in Hamilton Township, NJ, on the Mercer County Community College West Windsor campus, MCSSSD is committed to serving as a catalyst for innovative, integrated programs and services. Established in November 1977 through the collaborative efforts of the Mercer County Administration, Board of County Commissioners, parent organizations, Mercer County Office of Education, and local public school districts, MCSSSD serves students with significant disabilities from preschool through high school across three school campuses.
MCSSSD provides specialized instructional, vocational, and therapeutic programs tailored to each student’s unique needs, interests, and capabilities. Designed for multi-disabled, autistic, and emotionally disturbed students across preschool, elementary, and secondary levels, the district also offers special initiatives to support infants, adult graduates, families, and partner agencies.
Through strong leadership and collaborative partnerships with staff, families, sending school districts, and the local community, MCSSSD equips students with the essential skills to thrive in their environments.
The district’s educational, therapeutic, and support programs are highly regarded throughout the region. The Board of Education seeks a visionary leader with demonstrated success in special education leadership and a proven ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, sending districts, and partner jurisdictions.
Detailed leadership characteristics and qualifications will be posted on the district website in mid-November 2026. Candidates must possess, or be immediately eligible to obtain, a New Jersey School Administrator Certificate.Â
