Mercer County Technical Schools
The Mercer County Technical Schools (MCTS) Board of Education seeks a visionary, collaborative educational leader to serve as its successor superintendent of schools beginning July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will build trust, foster transparent leadership across campuses, and strengthen partnerships with sending school districts, postsecondary institutions, and community industry partners. The salary range is expected to be $210,000 to $230,000, subject to actual qualifications, experience, and contract negotiations.

Mercer County Technical Schools mission is to produce a community of inspired, compassionate leaders who are knowledgeable, skilled, and possess the competencies that will prepare them for success in an ever-changing technological world. The district receives students from all nine Mercer County K-12 school districts, offering a wide variety of hands-on shared-time career and technical education (CTE) programs, full-time specialized academies, and postsecondary options across two campuses. MCTS is widely recognized for its dedicated faculty, robust community and business partnerships, state-of-the-art program options, and strong culture of personal attention for individual learners.
Full-time and dual college enrollment options include a Culinary Arts Academy, Health Science Academy, and STEM Academy, each correlating with nationally recognized career clusters. The district provides students with opportunities to earn industry credentials, participate in CTE clubs, and access apprenticeship, internship, and employment pathways through strong employer relationships.
Desired Qualifications & Characteristics
- Strong technical/vocational program knowledge and extensive CTE experience highly preferred.
- Visionary, situational leader capable of establishing a unified district vision and strategic plan.
- Exceptional relationship and trust builder with a proven track record of transparent communication and shared decision-making with the Board of Education, staff, sending districts, and county partners.
- Strong and creative manager of fiscal and facility resources, with ability to address program expansion, staffing, and operational alignment.
