Job Description

Due to the upcoming retirement of Dr. Robert McBride, the Lockport Township High School District 205 is seeking a highly accomplished, energetic professional to be the district’s next leader.  With a mission to create a nurturing and challenging environment in which all students achieve success, develop personal responsibility, and become lifelong learners, the district is a highly rated secondary education provider, known for its “Porter Pride” and a long history of academic and extracurricular excellence.

Lockport Township High School District 205 serves approximately 4,000 students, grades 9 through 12, from the communities of Crest Hill, Fairmont, Homer Glen, Homer Township, Lockport, and Lockport Township. With boundaries covering 65 square miles, it is one of the largest school districts in Illinois. Steeped in tradition and focused on the future, the district offers a robust STEM program and 39 dual credit opportunities with area colleges.

Employing approximately 600 staff, the district has a dual campus model consisting of Central Campus serving 9th grade and East Campus serving 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. The district serves as the secondary destination for seven elementary feeder school districts.

The successful candidate needs to have a proven track record as a responsive and successful leader; must have exceptional collaborative skills and the ability to maintain strong inter-district relationships; be capable of managing a large, high performing high school district while navigating the logistical and cultural nuances of maintaining a “One District” identity across two distinct physical campuses, and demonstrate the capacity to execute the 10 Year Master Facilities Guide that requires experience with bond structures, large-scale construction management, and construction finances.
